Suggestions (sorry for being so late):
Add after Ch. 4.2, last paragraph: Also the Hamburg Ocean Atmosphere Parameters and Fluxes from Satellite (HOAPS, Andersson et al. 2007) provides precipitation estimates over the global ice-free ocean, which results in the only available purely satellite-derived estimates of freshwater flux.
Change Ch. 5, 4th paragraph, 4th sentence (bottom 2 lines on p. 17) to: A renewed effort to improve shipboard rain gauges and to develop new types and to cover frozen precipitation would be required.
